Displaced Cube
This exercise looked at the re-interpretation of Lewitt installation of the incomplete cube. A typical cube is made up of 12 equal sides. In his work, he re-interpreted the cube as a serial system generated by less than the conventional 12 sides. We seek to extend this re-interpretation of the cube by looking at the idea of a point within a cube. Conventionally, cube is perceived as a static object with a central point within a visual field. Our re-interpretation seeks to challenge the norm of a static cube by displacing the central point to create a visual tension within the field.
